$60,000 Awarded For Affordable Housing
Des Moines, Iowa – Representatives Roger Thomas of Elkader and Andrew Wenthe of Hawkeye announced today that the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Board has approved housing assistance of $60,000 to the Fayette County Local Housing Trust Fund.
“All Iowans deserve safe and reasonably priced housing. These awards will provide affordable housing opportunities that were previously unavailable to thousand of hard working Iowans,” said Thomas.
The allocations came through the State Housing Trust Fund and will aid in the development and preservation of affordable housing in communities throughout the area. The money will come from the Local Housing Trust Fund Program.
“I’m pleased that the Iowa Finance Authority is partnering with these communities to help our families,” said Wenthe.
The Board approved the total amount of funding requested by certified local housing trust funds. This amount totaled over $4.5 million for 1,613 local affordable housing units across Iowa. This $4.5 million will leverage an additional $8 million in other financing resources.
