Iowa's excellent economic
rating in new study makes GOP attacks on budget and jobs ring
hollow
DES
MOINES, IA – Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan
challenged Republican candidates for Governor Thursday to stop their
partisan attacks and tell the truth about Iowa’s excellent economic
health and fiscal management when compared with other
states.
“The facts say we are a national leader in terms of
the strength of our economy and how we are managed, and Governor
Culver deserves real credit for that,” Kiernan said. “At some
point, the Republicans need to take pride in the way their state is
handling a recession and stop these cheap partisan
attacks.”
Kiernan pointed to a study released by the Pew
Center on the States Wednesday placing Iowa in a tie for second
place among states on an economic and fiscal scorecard.
"This is an important acknowledgment of Iowa’s economic
strength on a national level, and something every Iowan can take
pride in,” Kiernan said. “We can count on the Culver-Judge team to
grow Iowa’s economy and responsibly manage our state
budget.”
